Molecular cloning and characterization of OsLRK1 encoding a putative receptor-like protein kinase from Oryza sati6a

چکیده
A cDNA clone, OsLRK1, encoding a leucine-rich repeat receptor-like protein kinase was isolated from the immature panicles of rice. The OsLRK1 protein was composed of a leucine-rich extracellular ligand-binding domain, a membrane-spanning segment, and a cytoplasmic kinase domain. The OsLRK1 protein showed the highest sequence homology with Arabidopsis CLV1. The OsLRK1 transcript was present at a high level in immature panicles and at a low level in seedling shoots, immature seeds, and mature seeds, while no expression was detected in seedling roots and panicles at the heading stage. This expression pattern is similar to that of CLV1, which suggests that the rice clone may play a critical role in meristem development. The function of the rice OsLRK1 gene was studied by the transgenic approach. Antisense expression of OsLRK1 in rice plants resulted in increased numbers of flower organs, suggesting that the OsLRK1 gene is involved in floral meristem activity. © 2000 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. Cloning and molecular characterization of TaERF6, a gene encoding a bread wheat ethylene response factor
Ethylene response factor proteins are important for regulating gene expression under different stresses. Different isoforms for ERF have previously isolated from bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and related genera and called from TaERF1 to TaERF5. We isolated, cloned and molecular characterized a novel one based on TdERF1, an isoform in durum wheat (Tri...
متن کاملMolecular cloning of adenylate kinase from the human filarial parasite Onchocerca volvulus
Adenylate kinases (ADK) are ubiquitous enzymes that contribute to the homeostasis of adeninenucleotides in living cells. In this study, the cloning of a cDNA encoding an adenylate kinase from the filariaOnchocerca volvulus has been described. Using PCR technique, a 281 bp cDNA fragment encoding part ofan adenylate kinase was isolated from an O. volvulus cDNA library. Use of this fragment as a p...
متن کاملMolecular Characterization and Biodiversity of a Putative Chlorotoxin from the Iranian Yellow Scorpion Odontobuthus doriae
Background: Chloride channels have already been over-expressed in the different types of cancer. Chlorotoxins, as the blocking agent of these channels, have been indicated to be an effective drug against tumors. In this study, we characterized a putative chlorotoxin from a cDNA library of the venom glands obtained from the Iranian scorpion Odontobuthus doriae. Methods: A cDNA library was constr...
متن کاملCloning and Characterization of cbhII Gene fromTrichoderma parceramosum and Its Expressionin Pichia pastoris
The genomic and cDNA clones encoding cellobiohydrolase II (CBHII) have been isolated and sequenced from a native Iranian isolate of Trichoderma parceramosum, a high cellulolytic enzymes producer isolate. This represents the first report of cbhII gene from this organism. Comparison of genomic and cDNA sequences indicates this gene contains three short introns and also an open reading frame codin...
متن کاملBioinformatic and empirical analysis of a gene encoding serine/threonine protein kinase regulated in response to chemical and biological fertilizers in two maize (Zea mays L.) cultivars
Molecular structure of a gene, ZmSTPK1, encoding a serine/threonine protein kinase in maize was analyzed by bioinformatic tool and its expression pattern was studied under chemical biological fertilizers. Bioinformatic analysis cleared that ZmSTPK1 is located on chromosome 10, from position 141015332 to 141017582. The full genomic sequence of the gene is 2251 bp in length and includes 2 exons. ...
